She was made in the mid 1800's and is an EB or E Barrois French Fashion Lady. I really don’t know the difference between the French fashion dolls unless they are marked. I had thought she could have been a FG or Francious Gaultiare, Jumeau or Bru but again I’m told by an expert she was the E Barrois French Fashion and extremely rare to find in this huge size. She has an absolutely gorgeous face. She is a whopping 32" tall and marked with number 12 on her shoulder plate and I have found no other marks on her head anywhere. She has beautiful, pressed, pale smooth, creamy bisque with no chips or cracks and her coloring is fantastic. She has huge, luminous bulge steel blue spiral thread almond shaped, glass paperweight eyes along with heavy painted upper and lower lashes. The sculpting and detail to her face is marvelous and the shading to her closed mouth and full lips is stunning. She seems to have almost a hint of a smile to her full lips and a wonderful longer round face with pieced ears with no chipping. She has a swivel head on a wonderful detailed shoulder plate that is perfect. Now she has an old hairline on the right side if her head. It goes from the rim to about the ear. It’s really hard to see but does sort of show up in the close up I tried to get of it. It’s just around invisible but I’m sure there is a bit of dirt in the line so with some bleach it might just disappear but with her wig on you would not even notice anyway. She has her original cork pate over older mohair wig that is wonderful. The style is excellent with little curls around her face, side and back and the reddish brown color looks stunning with her bisque color. Her original huge, chunky cloth and kid body is good condition with no leaking. It looks like most of the body was recovered years ago except for her kid arms which are excellent. I assume there was leaking so to prevent the body from falling apart someone recovered it. I’m not sure if most, some or all was recovered but it appears to be a very good job. Her kid arms are super and stuffed great with wonderful long individual fingers. She is stuffed great with excelsior and has a fuller more well defined bottom and thighs and thin waist. This is the biggest, French Fashion Lady I have ever seen and again she is just marvelous even with the hairline. She is wearing her stunning original 2 piece silk outfit that is in great condition considering it's silk and well over 100 years old. There is a thin lacy top under the jacket and the top has long full sleeves that is tight at the waist and has a wide collar with wide lapels with bow at the front waist. The skirt is wonderful and long and flowing in back. It has a tight waist with a really full behind so it looks like a bussel is back there. It's also longer in back as most French fashion dresses are so it trails out beautifully at the bottom when looking at her from the side. It has silk and lace trim around the bottom with tiny pleats so it flair’s out beautifully. Now since this outfit is 100 years old and silk there is quite a bit of fraying. In my opinion it’s not all that bad and is a beautiful original oufit. I don’t know if it can be restored but I would leave it be as she displays fabulously. It's a fabulous cream color and it's a treat to find this huge rare Barrois French Fashion like with original outfit. Her original antique pantaloons and slip are wonderful but could stand to be washed but I’ll leave that to you. Her antique socks are super and I believe her antique leather lace up boots are original. They are in great shape but the soles are a little loose I think and could stand to be glued. Her antique wire brimmed bonnet is stunning with lace, netting and silk trims round the edges and back. This huge E Barrois French Fashion is absolutely breathtaking and would make an excellent addition to any French Fashion collection and is truly a rare, rare find. This exquisite, huge, all original 32" early, size 12, swivel head E Barrois French Fashion with stunning original 2 piece silk outfit, bonnet, pantaloons, slip and boots I’m told if perfect is worth around $18,000.00 but due to the hairline my reserve is lots less so don't let her get away.
