Her head is marked with the number "9" ,identified by the Antique Trader's Doll Makers & Marks, as a Bebe Jumeau of approximately 20-21 " (76 cm.), made during the period 1885-1899. This beautiful doll has a bisque head with brown glass paperweight eyes, open mouth with teeth, multi-stroke brows, hand painted upper and lower lashes, and a long dark brown human hair replacement wig. Her head has no hairlines, chips or other damage. (see lighted head). Her composition body is jointed at the neck shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips & knees. Her composition body shows a little wear, but she has all her fingers and toes, and the composition is free of cracks. Dolly's clothes are made using copies of the old JUMEAU patterned dresses, with wide wonderful lace that you can't even find nowadays. Her deep brown lace drop-waist dress is typical of the period, and it is lined with pink, and it has a pink ribbon around the waist with a double bow. She has a pink bonnet with ruffles and flowers, cotton pantaletes with deep antique lace trim, and a petticoat also trimmed wide lace. . Dolly wears pearl earrings in her pierced ears and carries a silver chain-mesh handbag. The doll's shoes are soft brown leather and have string ties in the front ( these are not marked, so I assume they did not come with the doll originally), and her little socks are replacements. This doll is just a little over 20 inches tall and has a pate of cork.
