Description
Current Lot ARTISAN DOLL'S HOUSE FURNITURE. Consisting of ten pieces by craftsman Renee Isabelle including two armoirs; one on legs with interior scenes on doors and other with hand painted interior drawer, an oval pedestal base with finely painted Japanese motif, two pedestal tables; one topped with a hinged lid box, a settee upholstered with silk taffeta fabric printed by the artisan, two side chairs upholstered in cream silk with hand painted flowers and the backs of the chairs have exquisite hand painted flowers and a demi-lune cabinet on legs painted in pale gold with swags, scrolls and medallions of various scenes. Among her finest work is a sewing table intricately made with a medallion of a country scene hand painted on the lid that opens and a smaller lid of hand painted scenes that also open with intricate interior space for housing sewing implements which includes a small box with cover. The last piece in the lot is a drop front secretary with the exterior hand painted in Japan scenes with flower decoration on the front and sides as well as the interior. All edges are painted in gold with serpentine drawers. Included in the lot are four Russian covered boxes all with hand painted decoration, one painting of an 18th Century woman by Whitford housed in a gold frame, a framed black and white image of ballerinas and a large image of a woman in the countryside in gold frame as well as a miniature perfume bottle with lovebirds on lid. SIZE: 2" to 7-1/4" t. PROVENANCE: From the Estate of Geraldine Gaba, Scottsdale, AZ. CONDITION: Very good to excellent with one armoir missing a pin to hold door in place. 1-8805-5 (1,000-1,500)
