A beautiful creamy bisque head with swivel neck. Feathered long eyebrows arch over finest painted lashes surrounding the gentle gaze of blue enameled glass eyes. Rosy plump cheeks, a lovely straight nose, sweet almost smiling closed mouth with darker detailing, and ears pierced through the lobes, are fine Gaultier details. Her newer pale blonde caracul wig has all-over soft curls covering the original cork pate. The original kid fashion body, has gusseted elbows, hips and knees, with old patches to left elbow & wrist, and right knee. Petite and pretty, the lady is beautifully gowned in late-1870s style fully lined pink tissue-silk trimmed with same fabric ruching, and antique cream silk satin bows & lace. Sewn by a skilled seamstress. Underneath are antique lace-hemmed pantalets, corset-cover and petticoat, plus cream cotton knit socks. Hand-written in pencil on the petticoat "Brought from Paris in 1877 by Aunt Eliz. S. Taylor" – whether original to the doll or a later edition is a mystery. A charming bonnet of pleated plum silk-faced cotton is decorated with velvet ribbon, silk strawberries and a flourish of feathers. The endearing face makes this tiny Gaultier irresistible!!
